How to Select the Best Skin Products?
Wednesday, July 29th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedWhen you are choosing the best skin care products for yourself, reading reviews of the products is not enough. Because the product works great for someone else doesn’t mean it will work the same way for you. There are three factors that should play into every skin product selection that you make. If you choose the wrong type of product, you risk a variety of skin problems. Some people even develop chronic adult acne as a result of persistent use of the wrong beauty items. Make sure to always pay close attention to your personal skin type. This will help you single out the best skin products for you.
First, factor in your skin type. If you have oily skin, then you may need to focus on oil-free lotions and creams. Most cosmetic and beauty products contain some oils. Read the ingredients carefully before buying. Major breakouts and an uneven complexion can be a result of adding oily products to oily skin. If you have combination skin, you will need to choose products for sensitive skin. Combination skin means that part of your skin is oily and the other part is dry. Usually, the areas around your nose and mouth will be oily, with your cheeks and brow being dry. You can either buy products for sensitive skin or use two different products for these areas. Either will help reduce breakouts and inflammation while accomplishing your beauty goals. Don’t use drying extracts like peppermint if you have dry skin. Of all skin types, dry skin works best with conventional moisturizers that may have artificial colors or scents. It is the most resistant in most cases to breakouts, but you do need to watch for scaling.
Consider your age after you figure out what type of skin you have. Moisturizing and protection are all you need if you are in your twenties. This means you should use a good SPF moisturizer. You do not want to use aggressive anti-aging or wrinkle repair treatments. They can simply clog your pores and dry your skin. Still focus on prevention but in your thirties you can move on to anti-aging treatments, if you want. Not until your forties should you invest in serious wrinkle repair treatments. If you use skin products that are age-inappropriate, you may irritate your skin. You could create wrinkles where there shouldn’t be any. The best skin care products will also match the condition of your skin. Age and type are always important, but weathering must be factored in. For example, if you were a lifeguard in high school and got some serious sunburns, you may need to move into gentle sun repair products sooner than you would if you spent your entire life with a minimum of SPF 15 on your face. Similarly, if you do not have sun damage or weathering, then don’t indulge in a product to repair it. You would just damage your skin. When choosing the best skin products, remember it is a customized decision. Never be afraid to do something different than what the rest of “the pack” is doing. The best skin products you should use are totally personal.
